Ancient Persian Banded Agate Beaded Necklace

Ancient Near East / Central Asia, Achaemenid Persian (ca. 550 to 300 BCE) or Sasanian (Sassanian/Sassanid) Empire (ca. 2nd to 7th century CE). A beautiful necklace comprised of forty-two small and one large ovoid ancient banded agate beads, each with a similar translucent creamy-white color. The color palette of umber, pearl-white, coffee, and wheat hues in each bead imbue this ensemble with an elegant presentation evocative of high-caste fashion in ancient times. The banded agate’s natural beauty is further enhanced by their creators through a meticulous polishing process which gives the surfaces a lustrous sheen. Stylish and ready to wear with gold-plated findings for any occasion! Size (necklace): 19.875" L (50.5 cm); size of largest bead: 1.1" L (2.8 cm).

Condition: All beads are ancient; gold-plated hardware and stringing are modern. Light scratching and patina on beads. One of the smaller beads is cracked and missing a small portion at one end. Strung in modern times and wearable as shown.
