Central Asian Bronze Axe Head - Ex Arte Primitivo

Central Asia, Bronze Age, ca. 10th to 7th century BCE. An elegant cast bronze axe head of simple form, with a long, straight, rectangular blade and a round socket with a single raised thin triangle of bronze on the opposite side from the blade. Size: 4.45" L (11.3 cm); 4.8" H (12.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition: Very light encrustation covering the surface, with a mottled, dark green patina. What appears to be a casting flaw is along at the upper tip of the blade. Beautifully preserved form.

Provenance: private Stagecoach, Nevada, USA collection; acquired from 1985 to present from galleries such as Arte Primitivo, Art For Eternity, Butterfields, and Riverbend Gallery
