Ancient Marlik Bronze Knife Handle - Abstract Shape

Caspian Sea region, ca. 1st millennium BCE. This is a bronze knife handle, cast with delightful bulbous designs that give it an abstract shape reminiscent of a horse's head. This was a the product of a society with extensive bronze casting skills and lifestyle that venerated horses. Size: 2.25" L x 2.9" W (5.7 cm x 7.4 cm).

Condition: Patina; a rust-like brownish red encrustation is also present; shape intact and clear.
