Lot 93, Auction 4/12/2026: Three Persian Ghaznavid Bronze Bowls
$455.00
In stock
Near East, Persian, Ghaznavid period, ca. 977 to 1186 CE. A handsome trio of medieval bronze bowls, this group offers the quiet drama of timeworn metalwork, their surfaces mottled into a painterly patina by centuries of use and burial. Each bowl is formed with a broad, shallow profile and gently rising walls, creating an elegant utilitarian silhouette typical of Ghaznavid domestic wares. The interiors and exteriors display rich tonal variation, ranging from smoky charcoal to warm earthen browns, with areas of mineral accretion that lend the vessels an almost landscape-like texture. Together, the set presents a compelling study in medieval Persian bronzework – modest in form, yet deeply atmospheric, and exceptionally displayable as a group. Size of largest: 6.7″ Diameter x 2″ H (17 cm x 5.1 cm)
Condition: Chip to rim of one bowl. All have weathering and abrasions to surfaces, all commensurate with age.
