In stock
Central Asia, Tibet, ca. mid-20th century CE. This cast brass sculpture depicts the Medicine Buddha seated in a meditative posture, holding a bowl of healing herbs and a myrobalan plant, symbols of physical and spiritual restoration. The figure is rendered with calm facial features, elongated earlobes, and finely modeled robes that flow in folds across the body. The surface is painted with a warm coppery golden hue, accented by red and green highlights that emphasize the flower blossom, garments, and sacred details. The hollow underside is sealed with a brass panel, likely intended to enclose paper prayers or consecration offerings. Size: 5″ W x 7.5″ H (12.7 cm x 19 cm)
Condition: Fading and losses to painted pigments, but creates a nice weathered appearance.
Provenance: private Denver, Colorado, USA collection
