Native American, Southwestern United States, Akimel O’odham (Pima) or Tohono O’odham (Papago), ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A hand-coiled basketry bowl created primarily for decorative and artistic sale, featuring a shallow, wide form animated by pictorial figures arranged around the interior wall. The basket is constructed with foundation coils made from bundled grasses or leaves, tightly stitched with splints of natural plant materials such as willow, yucca, and possibly devil’s claw, producing a warm palette of tan and dark brown contrasts. Size: 11.5″ Diameter x 2.5″ H (29.2 cm x 6.4 cm)

Condition: Staining and discoloration, otherwise intact.
