Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Atlantic Watershed, ca. 200 to 500 CE. A marvelous, carved blue-green jade pendant in the form of an abstract anthropomorphic or possibly simian figure. Shown standing with feet firmly planted on groundline, the suggestion of arms/hands softly incised across the abdominal area, an expressive frontal face with partially drilled eyes, open mouth, and large pierced ears – drilled through the neck for suspension. Size: 1″ W x 1.75″ H (2.5 cm x 4.4 cm)
Condition: Earth deposits in ear perforations. Otherwise superb!
