Mexico, early 20th century. Rare carved wooden festival dance mask painted black with long sinewy snake emerging where nose should be. Snake is painted a vibrant red, green and yellow. A cool mask not commonly found! Size: 11.5″ H (29.2 cm)

Condition: Wear to pigment as shown, head of snake either reattached or was originally made in 2 parts, else intact and excellent

Provenance: Ex – Morgan collection, Santa Monica, CA.
