Central America, Guatemala, early 20th century CE. A wooden slingshot, hand-carved in the form of an acrobatic human or possibly a monkey swinging from his hands. The figure’s torso and legs are incised with details, and his face presents a focused expression. Elaborately carved slingshots (ondillas) are a common theme of Guatemalan folk art from this time period. Size: 5.75″ H (14.6 cm)
Condition: Excellent with nice patina.
