Pair of Near-Eastern Terracotta Scaraboid Seals- Lot 190, Auction 3/26/2018

Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, ca. late 2nd to 1st millennium BCE. A pair of black stone scaraboid seals, with the larger pierced for suspension. The larger has an incised four-legged animal, while the smaller depicts a bird, a staff, and another figure. Size of largest: 0.65″ W (1.7 cm)

Condition: Both have light surface wear commensurate with age, but very nicely preserved motifs. Each comes with a modern clay impression.

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection, acquired before 2000
