DescriptionRare type! Ancient Redware Askos, Gaulic, southern France, Spain, ca. 1st to 2nd century A.D. In almost miniature form, the surface is done in a fine, shiny red-slipped finish. While the specific purpose of this particular shape is not known, it's likely that it was used to pour liquids at the dinner table. 6-1/4"L x 2"W x 3"H, handle and spout broken/re-glued, otherwise excellent condition.
