DescriptionSPECIAL PURCHASE! From the south coast of Peru, ancient Pre-Columbian Textile Sash / Belt, ca. 1100- 1450 A.D. Woven from cotton and wool fibers with a tan foundation; gold, cream, brown and blue patterning. A plain-weave cotton fabric features repeating brocaded flying avian creatures holding zoomorphs in mouth. Professionally clean and then sewn onto modern black fabric, ready for framing. Complete selvages on both edges, frayed ends. Sash itself measures just under 60"L x 3-7/8"W, areas of staining/discolorization and wear. A fabulous example for the money.
