DescriptionRare culture! Ancient Pre-Columbian Bowl from Argentina (where only small amounts of ancient pottery have been found), La Aguada culture, ca. 500-900 A.D. Large greyware pottery bowl with fine-line incised decoration with series of repeating abstract designs. 9-3/8"D x 5"H, appears excellent, but has been repaired from about a half dozen large fragments.
ProvenanceEx-private Reed Collection, authenticated by Dr. Sandoval at The Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. Mr. Reed was an Army Attache in Buenos Aires in the late 1960s when he acquired this bowl.
