DescriptionLarge pottery Aryballos - vessel used primarily by athletes to hold body oils. Ca 6th century BC from the Greek city state of Corinth, decorated with large abstract palmettes in red and black pigments, black circles at rim. Larger than normal at 3-1/2" H by 3-1/8" D and intact and generally excellent with wear to pigment as expected.
