DescriptionOne of the most perfect examples of the type we have ever seen anywhere! Ancient Greek Pottery Aryballos from Corinth, in a proto-Corinthian style, ca. 630 BC. Small, rounded jug with wide flat lip, loop handle; well painted abstract palmettes with incised detailing. Used to carry perfumes and oil - globular aryballoi such as this were used by Greek men, the elongated versions (called alabastrons) were used by women. 2-5/8"H x 2"W at widest, intact choice condition and a real sweet gem!
