DescriptionAncient Greek Silver Tetradrachm, Atica, Athens, ca. 449-430 B.C. Obverse shows head of Athena facing right, wearing earring, necklace and crested Attic helmet adorned with olive leaves and spiral palmette; reverse shows owl standing three-quarters right, head facing, olive spray and crescent moon behind, AQE to right, all within a shallow incuse square. Star Xxiii, 11. 20.5mm, 17.2g silver. Custom-set in 14K gold flexible bezel (chain not included). A lovely and important ancient coin!
