DescriptionVery unusual ceramic stirrup vessel, late Sican (Lambayeque) to early Chimu culture, ca 800 to 1000 AD. Of redware clay and finish, comprised of two barrel-shaped objects at base with traditional stirrup spout on which have been attached small frogs. Beautiful crystalline manganese 'snowflakes' at sides and bottom. 6-1/8"H x 4-1/2"L x 3-3/4"W, intact/generally excellent, save small flake at top of spout.
