Lot 220, Auction 5/30/2017: Chancay Polychrome Standing Flat

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. A flat (aside from its three-dimensional nose) female figure with bright painted details in cream, ornage-red, and black. Perhaps made to be placed inside of a mummy bundle. Size: 3" W x 4.6" H (7.6 cm x 11.7 cm)

Condition: Repair to one foot, with minor losses to the same foot, nose, and shoulder. Some scraping to the back. Nice pigment remaining.

Provenance: Ex-Gomez collection acquired in the 1980's
