Lot 126, Auction 5/30/2017: Pair of Luristan Bronze Attachments

Ancient Near East, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A pair of abstract, cast bronze attachments, ornaments probably for a saddle or a belt, with avian form motifs at the base of each. Comes with custom stand displaying both. Size of each (approximately): 1.55" W x 2.25" H (3.9 cm x 5.7 cm); height on stand: 2.65" (6.7 cm)

Condition: Both have pale green patina on their surfaces, with reddish patina near the top, indicating contact with iron - perhaps how they were attached.

Provenance: private J. Connell collection, Massachusetts, USA
