Lot 89, Auction 5/30/2017: Greek Miniature Pottery Lekythos + Salt Dish

Greece, Hellenistic period, ca. 4th to 3rd centuries BCE. A miniature lekythos (oil vessel) that was once a deep, glossy black, although much of its pigment is now gone, leaving behind swirls of black on a fired red body. Also a shallow salt dish with a short, round foot and little remains of black pigment. Size of lekythos: 1.5" W x 2.9" H (3.8 cm x 7.4 cm); size of dish: 3" W x 1" H (7.6 cm x 2.5 cm).

Condition: Salt dish is intact; lekythos has a tiny loss from underside of spout.
