Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A charming, hand-modeled whistle in the form of a snail with red and white motifs painted on its body. The snail is on a round base with three legs and a has a delightful pointed tail and hammerhead-like head on a thick neck. Whistle is still functional! Size: 3.05″ L x 2.35″ W x 1.45″ H (7.7 cm x 6 cm x 3.7 cm)
Condition: Repaired on base, with small area of overpainting across repair.
