DescriptionFrom ancient Greece, Apulian region, Xenon style, ca. 350 B.C. Classic blackware wire pouring vessel with pinkish-red pigment applied after firing. Decoration features two swans on front, rays on neck, and trailing vines encircling. Trefoil spout allowed liquid to be poured in any of three ways at table. Small, footed base. 5-1/2"H, intact/in generally excellent condition. A beautiful wedding or anniversary gift.
