DescriptionFrom ancient Egypt, 28th Dynasty to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 400 - 100 BC. Light blue/green glazed faience shabti of Neferu, he wears a striated tripartite wig that reaches the length of his ceremonial beard. Arms folded across chest, only the hands are exposed. An agricultural implement is held in each hand. A pick rests upon the right shoulder, and a hoe on the left. A seed sack is carried on the back, over the left shoulder. The figure is fixed to a modern wood base. Shabti measures approximately 3-3/4"H (9.6 cm), cleanly rejoined at knee level, glaze roughness on back pillar, small chip to the glaze on back of head, plus light glaze wear to the hands, otherwise in very nice condition.
