18th C. European Religious Medal / 14k Gold Ring

Europe, 18th century CE. A heavy, modern 14k setting holds a bronze religious medal that shows a low-relief saintly figure in profile - possibly St Francis of Assisi? The figure seems to have the Franciscan hair style and is wearing a robe in the style that he is commonly depicted as wearing. His arms are crossed over his chest. Medals like these were produced throughout Europe, especially in Italy, and often sold to pilgrims or tourists visiting religious sites. US ring size: 7. Size of medal: 0.6" W x 0.8" H (1.5 cm x 2 cm)

Condition: Ring setting is modern. Religious medal has enough wear that words are not quite readable.

Provenance: Ex-Colorado collection via family descent
